Specialist underwriting agency DUAL Europe has further extended its reach in the maritime insurance market by launching a new Marine hub in Hamburg, Germany.

Part of the global DUAL Group, one of the world’s largest international underwriting agencies, DUAL Europe continues to strengthen its position across the continent with this latest strategic expansion.

The Hamburg office follows the establishment of Marine hubs in Rotterdam (2023) and Genoa (2024), marking the third such opening in under two years.

The expansion reinforces DUAL Europe’s ambition to be a leading Marine insurance provider and a reliable, long-term partner for brokers operating in the maritime space.

Heading up the new Hamburg team is Klaus Weber, who joins as Head of Marine, DUAL Deutschland. Klaus brings more than 30 years of marine insurance experience, including 25 years of service with the GDV Hull Insurance Working Group.

He also spent a decade contributing to the IVR—an international body focused on inland navigation—serving two years as its President. Klaus will work alongside underwriters Steffen Thormann and Tereza Alisch, both bringing valuable experience to the new unit.

With the Hamburg hub now in place, DUAL Europe offers an expanded portfolio of Marine solutions, covering Ocean and Inland Hull, Builders Risks, Cargo, and Land-based Equipment. These products are designed to support brokers across international markets with flexible, responsive underwriting and a deep understanding of the sector’s complexities.
