The two appointments align with Canopius\u2019 continued growth plan across the region.<\/p>\nCanopius Group, a global specialty and P&C insurer and reinsurer, has appointed Chen Zhang as Head of Claims and Channing Chiu to a newly created role of Regional Strategy and Transformation Lead in its Asia Pacific (APAC) leadership team.<\/p>\n
Zhang stepped into the role on May 5th, 2025, and Chiu\u2019s appointment is effective May 19th, 2025. The two appointments align with Canopius\u2019 continued growth plan across the region.<\/p>\n
The pair will report to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Canopius APAC and Middle East & North Africa (MENA).<\/p>\n
Most recently, Zhang served at Factual Mutual Insurance Company as Branch Manager in Hong Kong. In the role, he led business operations in Hong Kong and managed complex commercial property claims across APAC.<\/p>\n
Zhang has over 15 years of industry experience with deep expertise in claims adjusting, engineering risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement. At Camopius, he will be instrumental in shaping and executing the claims strategy for APAC, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and client service excellence, stated the firm.<\/p>\n
Chiu also brings 15 years of broad-based insurance experience, having led cross-functional teams in pricing, claims, marketing, distribution, product development, and operations across markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, and China.<\/p>\n Most recently, she led the small and medium enterprises segment at AIG Singapore, and served as Underwriting and Portfolio Manager for four markets in Southeast Asia and Greater China.<\/p>\n She will work closely with Lee and the regional executive committee to set Canopius\u2019 long-term strategic goals for the region, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the organisation to meet our growth vision.<\/p>\n Lee commented on the appointments, “We are delighted to welcome Chen and Channing to the APAC leadership team.
