{"id":1433,"date":"2024-08-27T13:00:43","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T13:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/calebdewey.com\/?p=1433"},"modified":"2024-08-28T02:25:42","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T02:25:42","slug":"definity-estimates-150m-in-cat-losses-from-events-in-july-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calebdewey.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/27\/definity-estimates-150m-in-cat-losses-from-events-in-july-august\/","title":{"rendered":"Definity estimates $150m in cat losses from events in July &amp; August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian property and casualty insurer Definity Financial Corporation has estimated a negative impact on operating income of approximately $150 million, net of reinsurance recoveries, arising from catastrophe losses in July and August 2024.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"size-full wp-image-134982 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/calebdewey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/definity-financial-logo.jpg\" alt=\"definity-financial-logo\" width=\"340\" \/>The estimated losses account for approximately $0.97 per common share, net of taxes and reinsurance.<\/p>\n<p>The reinsurance recoveries include fully utilising the $25 million available under Definity\u2019s catastrophe aggregate treaty.<\/p>\n<p>The assessment is based on up-to-date customer information and analysis of exposures.
