The International Underwriting Association (IUA) has announced its Aviation Claims Committee has appointed James Sutherland, from HDI Global SE, as its new Chair, and Paul Lamport of AIG as its new Deputy Chair.

Sutherland’s current role at HDI Global SE is as Claims Manager – Transportation & MEPC. The executive has held a number of roles during his five-year tenure at the company, including Claims Manager – Aviation, Space & Marine and Claims Manager – Aviation & Space.

Prior to HDI, Sutherland spent over six years at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Through his career he has also held roles at THB Group, Hayward Aviation, Willis and Chaucer Syndicates.

At IUA, he will be succeeding Bill Green of Sompo, who has been Chair of the IUA Aviation Claims Committee for two years.
