Swiss Re appoints Gianfranco Lot as Country President Switzerland



Global reinsurer Swiss Re has announced Gianfranco Lot will take on the additional role of Country President Switzerland, succeeding Urs Baertschi.

In this expanded capacity, Lot will be responsible for representing Swiss Re’s interests in Switzerland. including the company’s headquarters in Zurich. This will encompass business, political and community engagement platforms.

The executive brings over 35 years of re/insurance underwriting and client management experience to the role. He joined Swiss Re 2013 and currently serves as Chief Underwriting Officer P&C Reinsurance, a position he has held since April 2023.

Prior to this, Lot served as Head Globals Reinsurance and was responsible for managing client relationships with large insurance clients. From 2013 until April 2020 he also served as Client Executive, Managing Director, in the Globals Division.

Baertschi, who Lot succeeds, has held the additional role of Swiss Re Country President Switzerland since January 2023, alongside his primary position as Chief Executive Officer of P&C Reinsurance,
