European reinsurer Hannover Re has announced the appointment of Lena Kettler as Global Head of Claims (P&C), a newly created position based in Hannover.

Kettler is joining Hannover Re with close to two decades of industry experience with extensive knowledge in both underwriting and claims.

“Thanks to her broad experience, Lena will be able to connect the dots between claims, underwriting and accounting in Hannover and our local offices,” a Hannover Re spokesperson stated.

Prior to her recent appointment, the executive served at HDI Global for over five years, most recently as Global Head of Claims. As part of her career, Kettler was instrumental in establishing the claims function for HDI Global Specialty, the firm noted.

She joined the company in 2019 as Head of Claims HSGE and was later appointed General Manager and Head of Claims Home Office. In 2023 she became Managing Director and Global Head of Claims.

Prior to HDI, Kettler spent close to six years at Inter Hannover (International Insurance Company of Hannover SE), where she held a number of roles.

Through her career she has also held positions at Swiss Re and Hannover Rück-Gruppe.
