Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) has announced that Peter Thirring will assume the role of Chairman of the VIG Supervisory Board, effective 1st July 2025.
The decision was made during the constituent meeting following VIG’s 33rd Annual General Meeting.
Thirring will succeed Rudolf Ertl, who will remain on the Supervisory Board as Deputy Chairman.
Thirring joined VIG in 2016, taking on the position of CEO at DONAU Versicherung AG.
He joined VIG in 2016 as CEO of DONAU Versicherung AG. In 2018, he was appointed to the VIG Managing Board, where he assumed responsibility for underwriting, compliance, and the VIG Re reinsurance business. He also contributed his extensive management experience in Eastern Europe through mandates on supervisory boards in Slovakia, Türkiye, Georgia, Liechtenstein, and other countries.
Since 2023, Thirring has served as Deputy CEO of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein.
He began his career at Generali, where he also held the position of Chairman of the Managing Board of Generali in Austria.
