Hiscox has confirmed that Senior Independent Director Colin Keogh will be taking up the mantle as Interim Chair following the tragic death of Jonathan Bloomer.

He was Chair of Morgan Stanley International, DWF Group PLC and SDL Group Limited, having joined Hiscox in June 2023.

His previous board roles included Chair of Arrow Global Group PLC and Senior Independent Director at Hargreaves Lansdown plc.

“It is with profound sadness that the Board of Hiscox confirms that its Chair, Jonathan Bloomer, and his wife Judy died in the tragic sinking of the Bayesian off the coast of Sicily on Monday 19 August,” Hiscox recently announced.

Aki Hussain, Hiscox Group CEO, continued, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by Jonathan and Judy’s tragic deaths. Our deepest sympathies go out to their family and friends at this devastating time.

“It was a privilege to have known Jonathan and to have benefitted from his generosity and wisdom over the last year in his role as Chair of Hiscox.

“His deep experience across our industry and in the broader business arena, combined with his personal values, made him both an excellent Chair and a person I was proud to know and work with. His advice and support were immensely valuable to me, and he will be dearly missed.”

Colin Keogh, the new Interim Chair, has spent his career in financial services, principally at Close Brothers Group plc, where he worked for 24 years and was Chief Executive Officer from 2002 until 2009.

As mentioned, Keogh has also previously served as Senior Independent Director and chair of the Remuneration Committee of Hiscox Limited.
