Swiss Re reveals new advanced tool for evaluating coronary artery disease risk

Swiss Re, a global reinsurer, has introduced an upgrade to its Life Guide underwriting manual, specifically enhancing the coronary artery disease (CAD) calculator.

swiss-re-logoThis advanced tool is now available to more than 25,000 Life Guide users across 800 companies in 100 countries.

The enhanced CAD calculator is designed to simplify the underwriting process, enabling underwriters to more accurately assess premiums based on an individual’s cardiovascular risk profile.

It offers a comprehensive approach to evaluating critical factors such as CAD diagnosis, medical history, treatments, and related health conditions.

The update also features a redesigned, user-friendly interface that integrates CAD ratings from Life Guide. Additionally, underwriters can now utilise an interactive 3D heart model to better visualise associated risks.

Given that CAD is a leading cause of death worldwide, it is a primary focus for medical underwriters. The previous CAD calculator, launched in 2018, became one of the most widely used tools within Life Guide, with an average of 300,000 uses annually.

The updated CAD calculator is just one of several enhancements Swiss Re is implementing in its annual Life Guide update. Other improvements include the addition of new rating pages reflecting the latest medical findings and substantial upgrades to the platform’s usability, navigation, and overall functionality.
