Arch Insurance International, part of Bermuda-based re/insurer Arch Capital Group Ltd., has announced the appointment of Ketan Motwani as UK Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In his new role, Motwani will directly report to Hugh Sturgess, Chief Executive Officer at Arch Insurance International. He will work closely with the larger Arch senior leadership team to support the company’s overall growth plan. He will be in charge of leading key UK areas, such as underwriting operations, process and operational excellence, and strategic portfolio management.

Expressing his enthusiasm for Motwani’s appointment, Sturgess states, “Ketan brings an exceptional breadth of expertise to the role and considerable experience in all aspects of operational and performance enhancement.

He continues, “As Arch looks to build on the substantial market success we have achieved in recent years, he will have a central role in ensuring we maintain a fully optimised operating model across every aspect of our organisation.”

Motwani joins Arch from Aon, where he worked for five years, most recently serving as its Chief Operating Officer – Commercial Risk (Global, Wholesale & Speciality Broking). In this role his responsibilities spanned transformation, service delivery, operations, and digital platforms.

Motwani also serves as the Director of the Board of Directors at PPL Placing Platform Limited.

Prior to joining Aon, he spent nine years in a variety of senior positions at Deloitte UK that were centred on insurance strategy, operations, and technology. His most recent role was Senior Manager – Insurance Transformation (Strategy, Operations & Technology).
