Root, an end-to-end digital insurance platform, has announced the launch of a certified developer community programme that aims to enhance scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
The programme has been designed to support in-house developers at insurance businesses, directly addressing the pressing need to upskill coders, giving them the opportunity to become Root Certified Engineers and be part of a community of developers sharing best practice.
Developers will undergo an efficient onboarding and certification process to become Solutions Engineer freelancers. Root’s internal Solutions Engineering team will manage this process, ensuring that all freelancers are qualified and equipped to succeed.
Engineers will be assigned projects, with regular monitoring of their performance. Training and mentoring will be provided continuously to ensure their professional growth. Additionally, a feedback loop will be implemented to facilitate ongoing learning and skill development for Developers.
Charlotte Koep, CEO at Root, said: “I’m so proud of this initiative to offer external developers the opportunity to become Root certified and work with us on a freelance basis. It’s a win-win for Developers who can enhance their skills, knowledge and experience, and work with our in-house team. For Root, we’ll be able to call on qualified Engineers to help us deliver projects as we scale.”
Lourens Pelser, Customer Operations, Root, added: “Designing and creating the Developer Community Program is a natural next step for Root, and offers so much gravitas for Developers. They will get the opportunity to work on a freelance basis with us and access our many interesting projects.
“It’s also a chance to develop skills, network with like-minded people and gain a strong reputation in the InsurTech market. We’re excited to enroll our first freelancers and get the program moving forwards.”
